How to make Spicy Braised Tofu
Method
- Make the sauce by mixing the garlic, ginger, soy and water together. If using kimchi, add this also.
- Cut the tofu into 12 squares by slicing in half lenghtways, then cutting both pieces into 6.
- Place the oil into a non-stick frying pan set over a high heat. Add the tofu and cook for a few minutes on each side or until lightly coloured.
- Remove the tofu from the pan and add the sauce. Reduce the heat to medium and cook the sauce for 2 minutes. Add the tofu back to the pan, ensuring it’s nicely coated with the sauce.
- Serve the tofu and sauce over brown rice with some steamed pak choi. Top with toasted sesame seeds, red chilli slices, sliced shallots and coriander leaves.
Optional: Try substituting out the pak choi with your choice of leafy green vegetables, such as broccoli, broccolini or kale would be equally delicious.
