Poultry Farmers and Suppliers

Cordina Farms

Established in the 1940's, Cordina Farms is Australia’s oldest poultry processor, dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Australian farming.

Cordina Farms still occupies the same site in Girraween, NSW today as it did back then, with a dedicated farming network around the Greater Sydney Metropolitan Region, Central Coast and Southern Highlands. Cordina Farms have RSPCA Approved certification. 

Highly awarded and respected within the food industry, Cordina has built a reputation around partnership, stability, innovation, trust, agility and most importantly, always thinking differently.

Meet Sara and David. They are leaders in farming initiatives, facilities and, most importantly, are all about chooks!

Golden Cockerel Chicken

Golden Cockerel Pty Ltd is a 50-year-old, proud QLD company. Formed in 1973 between two farming families via the Woodlands and Darwalla groups, there is over 100 years' experience in providing sustainable food for the South East Queensland region.

Across all their farms and facilities, animal welfare is front and centre. This is supported by independent RSPCA Approved certification.  Golden Cockerel Chicken, also known as Elgin Valley Farms, is also committed to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impacts through a range of initiatives.

Their Mt Cotton facility has an "Integrated Environmental Management System” which includes an environmental impact monitoring program and reporting to the QLD Government. They are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and environmental impacts through initiatives such as: Energy and water intensity reductions, use of environmentally friendly chemicals, recycling of cardboard, plastics and timber, vegetation rehabilitation programs, wastewater reclamation for irrigation purposes and are a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant. 

Hazeldenes

Based in central Victoria, Hazeldenes has been at the forefront of the Australian poultry industry since 1938. Hazeldenes has a long-standing reputation for quality production and higher-welfare standards, certified by RSPCA Approved. Their values are underpinned by a long-standing family history and ‘local business’ reputation.

Meet the Foott family, proud third-generation poultry farmers who provide Hazeldenes poultry from Litchfield, Victoria. The family enjoy the independence of farming and the knowledge that their hard work is contributing to the success of their family’s enterprise. 

The family initially ventured into the chicken industry to complement and support their grain farming enterprise. Nowadays the business is seamlessly integrated, with chicken manure serving as sustainable fertiliser for their crops and the straw from those crops being ground to create litter for the chickens.

Inghams

Starting as a family business in 1918, Inghams is an industry leader for Australian and New Zealand poultry. Ingham’s continues to build on their long-standing and solid reputation for sustainable operations and animal welfare standards, with 100% RSPCA Approved certification at their broiler farms. 

Meet father daughter dynamic duo, Karina and Robert. Robert is a seasoned farmer partnering with Ingham’s for over 25 years. Starting small initially, he and his wife grew their enterprise to two farms. Now with daughter Karina, continuing the family tradition of raising meat chickens to the detailed RSPCA Approved standard, and leading their state-of-the-art facilities in South Australia, they bring a combined 50 years of family business knowledge.

Peter Apap

Peter Apap is a born-and-bred poultry supplier and has provided high quality poultry to ALDI for over six years. He is dedicated to a long-standing farming family in south-west Sydney’s Silverdale.

These local legends are continuously improving their farming practices. Peter's investment into renewable energy will see the farm supply move from 40% to 80% solar energy by the end of 2025. While Peter's commitment to animal welfare is demonstrated through his independent RSPCA Approved certification.

Beef and Lamb farmers

Bindaree

Meet Bindaree Food Group, a founding beef supplier to ALDI since 2001. Their story dates back to 1951, in Casino, NSW. Fast-forward to today, Bindaree operates as one of Australia’s leading beef suppliers

Their inspiration extends from the passed-down knowledge of the family behind Bindaree, the invaluable contributions of their people, and collaborative efforts with suppliers in their local communities. It’s this approach and collective spirit that continue to drive and inspire the Bindaree business endeavours.

Bindaree was a finalist for the 2023 Australian Packaging Innovation & Design Award for their eco-friendly, flow-wrap packaging, reducing the plastic used in their original packaging by 70%. Well done champs!

Thomas Foods International

Meet the Mulligans, born and bred suppliers for almost 50 years. These local legends pride themselves on the highest quality pastures, lamb. and beef, from the cool, lush and fertile lands of Walcha, NSW.

They utilise technology so their animals can live as stress-free as possible with minimal handling. Using electronic ID’s on their livestock, to help record things like animal health programs, pasture management and more. They monitor in real time and can identify trends and manage accordingly. The data collected from their livestock and pastures is used to improve decision making and farm performance.

Meet Rob and Anna. They are committed to animal welfare and dedicated to a holistic, sustainable, and data-driven approach, that ensures honest-to-goodness produce. “We’re big on our grazing management too. We do rotational grazing that supports a predominantly perennial grass-based system. By resting the pastures, we are improving the quality of our grasses which is important for long-term pasture management and livestock performance”.

Teys

These legends provide Aussie goodness from the south-west slopes of New South Wales to the national market. Through advanced technologies, they’re committed to sustainable and environmental initiatives, including bush renewal.  

They have a strong focus on sustainability and have been practicing environmental and production improvement practices for decades now. They measure extensively and use outside expertise to help us analyse and refine practices to improve their management. They are passionate about the benefits of sustainability across their landscape.

Meet the Pearces, fifth-generation beef farmers with a wealth of family business knowledge behind them. These generational farmers have been involved in farming operations for over 20 years. “We have planted over 5000 trees since the Black Summer fires of 2019/2020 which completely burnt our properties out. We value a personal commitment to leave the landscape in a better state for following generations than what we started with.”

The program works closely with producers to make a positive impact on the lives of farm animals by improving their quality of life. Through a program of assessment and certification against RSPCA Approved standards, the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme is underpinned by animal-specific standards that go beyond legal requirements and are informed by science and evidence, developed by RSPCA Australia's Science Team.


 ‘Five Freedoms’ developed by the Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC). The ‘Five Freedoms’ are:

  1. Freedom from hunger and thirst – by providing ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
  2. Freedom from discomfort – by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
  3. Freedom from pain, injury and disease – by prevention, or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Freedom to express normal behaviour – by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind.
  5. Freedom from fear and distress – by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
