Palm Oil

Palm oil comes in two forms: crude palm oil is produced by squeezing the fleshy fruit, whereas palm kernel oil comes from crushing the kernel or stone inside the fruit. This raw material is used in food production, beauty products, and cleaning products. It can also be used in animal feed and toiletries including toothpaste and shampoo.

All of ALDI’s exclusively branded products containing palm (kernel) oil adhere to strict standards of responsible production as set by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The aim of sustainable palm oil is to protect animals, the environment and the people who live and work in palm-oil producing countries. Palm oil that is produced in accordance with the guidelines laid out by industry bodies such as the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), is certifiably sustainable.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil

ALDI is an active member of the RSPO and Retailers’ Palm Oil Group (RPOG) so that we can support efforts to protect rainforests and maintain biodiversity. The RSPO also aim to improve social conditions for people working around the world on sustainable palm oil plantations. ALDI business partners using palm oil are required to be RSPO members and their final production facility must be RSPO Supply Chain certified. This ensures a full chain of custody certification and assurance.
